1. Hmmm...everything's pretty good right now. Kids are working very hard, they are keeping their binders organized, and they are all coming to school on time.  I'm really happy with how everything is going.  


KUDOS TO: Robbie, Jessica, and Jennifer for putting the finishing touches on our "Currently the Best Class in the Universe" trophy.  It's going to be epic.

1. Message from York Region Public Health

Dear Parents of Grade 7 Students,

During the 2017/18 school year, York Region Public Health will visit public, catholic and private schools to provide school immunization clinics for Grade 7 students. The clinics offer vaccines for Hepatitis B, Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) and Meningococcal A, C, Y, W-135 at no cost.

If you have not already sent a completed consent form to York Region Public Health, please do so now using the attached form. Detailed instructions on how to complete and submit the form can be found on the form and accompanying letter. If a completed consent form is not received, your child will not be able to be vaccinated at the clinic.

Under the Immunization of School Pupils Act, meningococcal vaccine is required for school attendance, unless an exemption is filed. Hepatitis B and HPV vaccines are recommended, but not required for school attendance.

Parents and guardians who do not consent should still complete the forms and return them, indicating that you do not authorize York Region Public Health to immunize your child.

1. We finished our diagnostic math, learned about estimation, and will begin our integers unit on Monday.

FRENCH:
1. Students have assembled their dossiers and are now getting ready for a "who am I?" unit.  They also sang "Happy Birthday" to Julia (it was lovely).

HISTORY:
1. The 8s and I are examining the controversy surrounding the name change of "Sir John A. Macdonald" from some schools.  Next week we will dig a little deeper into Sir John A's past, keeping a balanced perspective as we do!

1. Please hand back all forms in the envelope provided.  This also includes the "opening year" letter I sent.

2. Ms. Liaw-Morris has sent home a letter regarding permission to read YA books in the learning commons.  Please have it signed.

3. MATH: Students have 15 estimation tasks on a sheet I gave them today, though they only need to do 8 (of their own choosing).  They might need to do some research to solve some of them.

4. ART: Mr. Livingston has something to do with the kids' names - not exactly sure, but it could be something you talk about over dinner.
