Mission Statement

Mission Statement: My classroom is a place where students should feel welcome: everyone should feel free to learn and participate without worrying about put-downs
or soul-crushing gossip.

Tuesday, April 17, 2018

A number of students have a significant amount of reading to do for their lit circle books - talk to your child about setting aside time every night to read.

HOUSEKEEPING:

1. VORC permission forms are due Wednesday!  Grade 7s - get on it!

2. DDPA Excellence Award Nomination forms came home today (blue).  This is a chance to nominate a volunteer who has made an outstanding contribution to the DDPS community.

KUDOS TO
Thomas, for winning the first round of "Poison Dodgeball."  And to Ella, for winning the second.  Finally, Chelsea won the last game by just sitting there.  Oh, and thanks to Meeeekaaayyyla, Shauna, Ella, and Betty for taking out and tracking my consumable order.

HOMEWORK:

ENGLISH:

1.Tonight: complete the reflection for lit circle number 2.  It's on google classroom.  Basically, you are creating two "thick" questions for your group mates for next session.  Read the instructions carefully.

2.
Lit Circle #2 takes place next Wednesday: the task is to trick out your locker.  Remember: it's a metaphorical locker, so the items you include should not appear in a literal sense in the novel.  E.g., if the character is always playing with a rubber ball, I don't want to see that in the locker.  More like, if the character is always thinking about his mom who is away on a business trip, maybe there is a photo of her in the locker.

MATH:

1.   Grade 8: Part 2 of the test takes place tomorrow.  Part 1 was corrected and handed back today.

2. Grade 7: Part 2 of your test will take place tomorrow (thanks to the VIP!)

FRENCH
:

1.  Vedette drawings were due Friday: for those who received an extension, they need to be handed in tomorrow.  They are truly beautiful pieces!

2.

GEOGRAPHY GRADE 8:

Music:1. Essay on Jazz due April 19

2.

ART:

I read the blog: On WEDNESDAY, tell me why you think which sign is most dominant in "Rock, Paper, Scissors"?
