Mission Statement

Mission Statement: My classroom is a place where students should feel welcome: everyone should feel free to learn and participate without worrying about put-downs
or soul-crushing gossip.

Still in 215...

HOUSEKEEPING:

1. Borrow eBooks and audiobooks from the YRDSB school collection.  Visit http://yrdsb.lib.overdrive.com.   In order to login to access Overdrive, students will need to add a zero to their student number to login (0xxxxxxxxx)

2.  Here is a sampling of today's warmup (write a rhyming couple about "Long Weekends")

Long weekends are so groovy,
Sometimes I watch a movie
-RA

Long weekends are what I enjoy,
2-day weekends are what I avoid.
-CC

The long weekend is here for another while,
I can finally feel myself naturally smile.
-CG

During the long weekend I like to play,
Hockey, throughout the day.
-MC

Long weekends are so great,
And today, I wasn't late.
-MA

An extra day to sleep in tight,
Until I'm awakened by the light.
-JP

My family is watching a movie together,
And I hope we have good weather.
-EC

Dear Long Weekend, you are a bliss
For the weekdays I shall not miss
-JM

KUDOS TO: Natalie, for being the only kid to successfully grab a bean bag from Woodhead's hoop (thus resulting in a win for Team Le Moine).  The trophy is still in room 215.

HOMEWORK:

ENGLISH:

1. I handed back (electronically) students 2nd formative reading response.  Please have your child log in and show you the rubric and my comments.

2. Book TALKS: Outline is due Monday.  Book talks will begin later next week.  Everything you need is on Google Classroom.

3. Passion Project: next Friday, we will be presenting our Passion project proposals a la "Dragon's Den".  To do this effectively, you will need to complete the survey on Google Class.  That should help you narrow down your topic to the driving question.  You will need to make a very short presentation using google slides (4-5 slides) to support your pitch.

MATH:
1. Google Class Survey: on classroom, you will find a survey (look to the "Algebra" topic) called "7/8 Algebra Review".  Please complete this quiz online to help you know what you know (and what you don't) in preparation for next week's test.

FRENCH:
1. Please bring a set of headphones from home (if you have them).  We will be listening and responding to something I recorded.

2. Students need to continue practising "5 par jour".

HISTORY:
1.  History test next week (Friday): provinces joining Confederation and the sum total of the "Let's Make a Country" activity

ART:

1. Finish 1/2 of the card.

SCIENCE:
1.

MUSIC:

1.

DRAMA:

1. Students completed their rough work for their monologues.  I gave quick feedback and handed them back today.  If students need to revise their work, they should do so tonight.  The following students need to revise theirs: MA, CG, KW, RA, LB, AF-W, EP, and DV.
